CHILDREN’S HOME SOCIETY
Raises $125,000 through the Christmas Book Project
This past fall Children’s Home Society (CHS) launched
Tom Roberts’ book, The Little Lost Sock, which was sold
along with his other two books, Santa’s Prayer and ‘Twas the
Night Before Christ throughout the state. Since 2002, this
project has not only raised money for its programs and
services, but also awareness of the CHS mission.
Because of the generous support from Jim Brummond,
illustrator of The Little Lost Sock, Maximum Graphics- print
donation, and a host of sponsors, 100% of the sales from The
Little Lost Sock and the first two books will help
Children’s Home Society provide care for over 2,000 kids in
need each year all across South Dakota.
In addition to creative/production assistance, tremendous
support was received from regional media partners including;
The Argus Leader, Backyard Broadcasting, KELO TV and
Midcontinent Communications.
CHS also partnered with over 80 retailers, schools, service
organizations, churches and businesses throughout South
Dakota to sell books and create awareness of the work CHS
does.
The result…in 2011, over 7,300 books (The Little Lost
Sock, Santa’s Prayer and ‘Twas the Night Before Christ) were
sold and the net amount raised was over $125,000.
We appreciate all of those who helped through donations,
book sales or by purchasing a Christmas book.
