EMERGENCY SHELTER
SERVICES
Children’s Inn provides shelter
services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence, elder
abuse, dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse &
neglect. Services are
provided, but are not limited, to the South Dakota counties of Minnehaha,
McCook, Lincoln, Turner, and Union.
Children’s Inn’s emergency shelter is
located at 409 N. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls, and is a safe, secured facility.
Accommodations & Services
include:

Twenty-four (24) comfortable bedrooms

Three nutritious meals each day

24-hour assistance from on-site social
workers

Counseling and therapy sessions for women and
children

Play activities for children
-
Family time
-
Staff assistance with protections orders, off-site
appointments

Link to other helping agencies
There is no cost to stay at the
shelter. Guests are expected
to help with minor chores during their stay at Children’s Inn. Maximum stay is thirty (30)
days.

What Is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence is a pattern of
controlling behavior that may include physical, sexual, economic, emotional,
and psychological abuse of one family member or intimate partner by
another. The goal of domestic
violence is to establish and maintain power and
control.
