OUTREACH SERVICES
When
other counseling options are not available, Children’s Inn provides
outreach services and follow-up counseling to past clients who were
victims of domestic abuse, elder abuse, dating violence, sexual assault,
and child abuse & neglect.

Staff
will attend weekly Order for Protection court hearings in Minnehaha
County to offer support to those women seeking a permanent order for
protection.

Staff
will attend court hearings relating to domestic violence cases in the
South Dakota counties of Minnehaha, McCook, Turner, Lincoln, and Union,
if requested by the victim.

Staff
will respond to calls by area hospital emergency rooms that are treating
someone whose injuries are a result of domestic violence. If requested by the patient, a
Children’s Inn staff member will go to the emergency room to lend
support, and to offer information and referral
assistance.

Masters-level counselors are available for on-going counseling
services to past clients.
When possible, referrals are made to establish counseling
agencies in the community.

Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling behavior
that may include physical, sexual, economic, emotional, and psychological
abuse of one family member or intimate partner by another. The goal of domestic violence is
to establish and maintain power and control.
