SUPPORT GROUPS FOR WOMEN
Children’s Inn
provides support groups for women who are victims of domestic violence,
elder abuse, dating violence, and sexual assault. Support group services are
provided for, but are not limited to, the South Dakota counties of
Minnehaha, McCook, Lincoln, Turner, and Union.
All groups meet at
Children’s Inn, 409 N. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls.
Though group meetings
are free of charge, donations are gratefully accepted to help defray
expenses.
FIRST STAGE GROUP
This group is for
women who are victims of partner abuse; no matter the status of the
relationship. The group
provides support to women who have been emotionally, sexually, or
physically abused in their relationships. Topics of discussion include: the
dynamics of domestic abuse, crisis issues due to domestic abuse, staying
safe, self-esteem, and healthy relationships. There is no pre-registration
required to attend.
This group is offered
three (3) times a week:

Monday 6:30-8:00 PM

Thursday 6:30-8:00 PM

Friday 12:00-1:30 PM
SECOND STAGE GROUP
This group is for
victims of partner abuse who have left their relationship. The focus of this group is to
explore a life free of abuse, process new challenges, and to develop
healthier ways of caring for one’s self. Discussion topics may include:
survival techniques, communication, building safe relationships, and self
esteem issues. Women wanting
to join this group need to consult with the facilitator before
attending.
This group meets once
a week. Contact group

What Is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence is a pattern of controlling behavior
that may include physical, sexual, economic, emotional, and psychological
abuse of one family member or intimate partner by another. The goal of domestic violence is
to establish and maintain power and control.
