Looking for adoption records?

Children’s Home Society provided adoption service for thousands of children between the years of 1893 and 1969.

CHS is permitted to disclose complete information to any adoptee that was born and adopted prior to June 30, 1939.

For persons born on or after July 1, 1939, Children’s Home Society requires proof of identification. CHS can then disclose information, but cannot identify the birth parents.

Those persons wanting the identity of birth parents must obtain a court order authorizing CHS to release that information. To obtain a court order, contact the Clerk of Courts at the courthouse in the county where the adoption took place. If that county is unknown to you, please contact Dianne Clary at the information listed below.
