VOLUNTEER SERVICES

The Messengers of Healing Winds Emergency Foster home is pleased to welcome volunteer service that enhances the work of staff in providing excellent service to our children.  There are many volunteer opportunities available that involve either direct contact or no contact with children.

Please note:  Because Children's Home Society children have serious emotional and behavioral problems, any volunteers that have one-on-one mentoring relationships with children must receive additional training.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

FOSTER FRIEND
A Foster Friend provides positive adult interaction for children in crisis, assists CHS salaried Foster Parents with daily care of children, and offers friendship to children placed in the Messengers of Healing Winds Emergency Foster Home.
 
CAMPUS FRIEND
Assist with various projects, as needed.  May include cleaning, campus and grounds beautification, mowing, landscape design, baking treats and more!
 
OFFICE ASSISTANT
Assist with answering phones, sending out mailings, home study completion, filing, and more!
 
LANGUAGE INTERPRETER
Assist as needed with communicating with children who speak little English, mainly Spanish and Lakota, and are placed in the Messengers of Healing Winds Emergency Foster Home.
