CHILD'S VOICE

The first center of its kind in South Dakota, CHILD’S VOICE provides expert forensic interviews and medical examinations of children who are alleged victims of sexual and/or physical abuse.  CHILD'S VOICE is located on the campus of Sanford USD Medical Center, and is a collaborative program of Children's Home Society and Sanford Children's.

The primary goal of CHILD’S VOICE is to reduce a child’s trauma by eliminating repeated interviews and medical examinations by multiple investigative parties.  CHILD’S VOICE provides one coordinated interview and a physical exam, and provides superior evidence in child abuse investigations.  Child Protection Services and law enforcement are able to observe the interview through a video monitor.

Open since April 1998, CHILD’S VOICE is the brainchild of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and agencies serving the Sioux Falls area including law enforcement, the medical community, court services, social service agencies, and Children’s Home Society.
