SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM

• Serves children age 4-13.
• Specializes in the education and treatment of children with emotional and behavioral disorders.
• Provides a highly structured setting with a 1:6 teacher to student ratio.
• Masters level therapy staff provide individual, group and family therapy.
• Initial assessment includes psychiatric evaluation, psychological evaluation, educational testing, family/social assessment, abuse assessment, therapeutic activities assessment, and speech/language screening. 
• Individualized Education Plan (IEP) incorporates academic, behavioral, and therapy objectives. 
• IEP’s and Treatment Plans are formally reviewed on a quarterly basis. Annual reviews include additional testing/evaluation.
• Students requiring medication are monitored by nursing staff. 
• Students receive physical education and, if necessary, recreational therapy. 
• Teachers are Special Education Certified and highly trained in dealing with emotional and behavioral disturbances.
• All educational staff receive 50 hours annual training specifically related to meeting the needs of children served. 
• Academic Program is approved by the South Dakota Board of Education.
